Why Do I Need The Meta-Oxy Test?

Is the Meta-Oxy Test Important?
Cellular inflammation is the silent killer. What Does the Test Measure & How Precise is it?
Cell membranes account for most of the fat in the body. When fat (including cell membranes) is oxidized, toxic aldehydes are released into the urine via the kidneys.
The Meta-Oxy Test measures malondialdehyde in the urine, which is a marker for oxidative stress and cell membrane damage due to free radicals. The substance in the test vial reacts with the toxic aldehydes in the urine, specifically the malondialdehyde released when fats are metabolized. The level of malondialdehyde in the urine indicates the amount of oxidized fat; therefore, the more malondialdehyde measured in the urine, the greater the amount of cell membrane damage.
The Meta-Oxy Test is 50 times more accurate than a blood test. However, a subjective element remains because the reading is based upon one’s perception of the color concentration of the testing vial. The more malondialdehyde in the urine, the more significantly the urine color will change from a shade of yellow to the magenta of malondialdehyde, revealing the extent of cell membrane damage. The darker the magenta color, the more cellular damage is occurring.
How Do I Read The Meta-Oxy Colorimetric Color Scale?
The scale measures test results on a scale of 0 through 7. Scores of 0-2 are considered safe, suggesting the body has available glutathione and other anti-oxidants (from organic foods and supplementation) essential to protecting cells. Scores of 3-7 point to excessive damage to the cell membranes, with increasing numbers showing more damage and the need for increased anti-oxidants from diet and supplementation.

Note: If you are taking B-vitamin supplementation that produces very yellow urine, it will alter the magenta color of your test sample. It’s best to skip a dose of your B-vitamins, allow urine to return to a normal color, and then take the test. If you choose not to skip your B-vitamins, however, you will still observe a darkness of color shift.
Can I Take Too Many Anti-oxidants?
Certainly, but it’s difficult to do, especially with our modern diet full of chemicals, pesticides, and additives.
