Wireless Technology and EMFs: Are Wireless Headphones Safe?
Wireless technology works due to electromagnetic frequencies (EMFs), which are electric and magnetic fields. These fields are present naturally in the world; in fact, we could not live without them! At the atomic level, all matter (like protons and electrons) have a charge. The earth has a natural magnetic field, the atmosphere has a natural electric field, and the sun emits EMFs too. These natural frequencies are what help synch our biological clocks to the Earth’s rhythms. Our circadian rhythm is linked to health and longevity.
As human beings, our bodies operate in these fields, like our nerves which communicate thanks to these currents. When someone’s heart stops, we use a defibrillator to send an electric current to the center in hopes that it will spark it to revive. Our mitochondria and liver enzymes run on electrical conductivity too.
Human-made electromagnetic frequencies are emitted by essentially every electrical innovation, including light bulbs, alarm clocks, ovens, toasters, blow dryers, computers, and microwave ovens. These EMF levels increased significantly when these technologies went wireless, with gadgets like wireless headphones laptops, cordless phones, cellphones, wireless internet, and Bluetooth technology. Are they safe? Although the tech industry pushed the ‘guaranteed’ safety of these frequencies for a long time, the science is finally emerging, highlighting that the opposite is true.
Are Wireless Headphones Safe? The Dangers of EMFs
Even in nature, we understand that certain EMFs can become dangerous if we remain exposed for too long. Although sunshine is integral to human health, if we spend all day in the sun, the radiation will cause our skin to burn. Pregnant women aren’t exposed to human-made X-ray machines for the same reason: it damages DNA.
New technologies with these low-level EMFs have been argued by tech companies to be safe. However, the reality is that by using these gadgets, we are unknowingly participating in the most extensive human EMF study. We are the lab rats because there has never been a long-term study exploring the safety of any of these technologies, not to mention their compounded effects.
The companies suggest the EMFs are safe because the frequencies are considered to be ‘low-level’ EMFs. This argument mirrors Monsanto’s Roundup argument that in such ‘small quantities,’ glyphosate does not harm the body. The problem with this argument is that low-levels of chronic stress repeated all day, every day, are no longer low. The body is incredibly resilient and can, without a doubt, withstand short, isolated EMF exposure. However, today’s modern world is filled to the brim with these low-level frequencies, pulsating at us from every angle, all day and night.
Are Wireless Headphones safe? Emerging studies have begun to link the low-levels of human-made EMFs to cancers, brain tumors, and other mitochondrial diseases. These findings lead some countries to place strict limits on low-level EMF exposures. Regulations for EMFs vary wildly from country to country, with Russia having one of the most rigorous policies, while the USA has one of the loosest.

- Inability to sleep
- Shallow sleep
- Brain fog
- Dizziness and vertigo
- Low immune system
- Chronic cold/ flu-like symptoms
- Adrenal fatigue
- Hormone imbalances

In today’s modern world, many people spend a large majority of the day with technology against their heads. Be it cellphones, cordless phones, Bluetooth headsets, and now the latest wireless head-technology: wireless headphones. Some of the latest popular cell phone models and mp3 players are only offered with wireless headphones. Many people know the dangers of holding up their cellphones to their heads and might think that opting for Bluetooth wireless headphones be a smarter decision. However, it is not.
Knowing what we now know about wireless technology, it’s not hard to connect the dots and see why wireless headphones are especially problematic for our health. Like cellphones, wireless headphones are placed against the head, right next to the brain. Our brains are especially sensitive to these frequencies, examined through heat imaging scans of the brain mass pre- and post-exposure. The radiation emitted from these devices heats the brain, causing radiation damage to the tissues.
To truly understand the impact that these wireless headphones are having on the body, look no further than a simple TES-593 Electrosmog RF Microwave test. These devices measure the degree of electromagnetic frequencies emitted from our devices. Cellular damage starts at a 0.5Ghz reading on these devices, and a quick analysis holding the device up to wireless Apple Airpods while playing music connected to an iPhone shows a reading above 5.0Ghz! Simple Ways to Mitigate EMF Damage
Although we cannot control many aspects of our modern world, these tips will help you significantly mitigate your exposure. First of all, always opt to connect with a cord instead of going wireless. Stick to plug-in headphones instead of wireless, skip the cordless home phones, and consider plugging in your laptop to the internet directly from the wall instead of using wifi.
Anytime you are using wireless options, be mindful to keep them as far as possible from your physical body, especially your brain and organs. Keep your phone away from your head, and in fact, keep it on airplane mode as much as possible. Avoid using wireless technology anytime you can opt to plug-in instead. When using your phone on speakerphone, hold the phone itself at least a foot away from your body. Opt to keep your cellphone in your bag as opposed to in your pocket.
While some level of EMF exposure is inevitable—the important thing is that you do everything you can. Besides avoiding wireless headphones and earbuds—one of the best ways to reduce the impact of EMF exposure is with a protective case. The technology has been advancing greatly in recent years, and there are now cases that significantly lower EMF emissions from your phone or tablet. This is especially important if you tend to keep your phone in a pocket or jacket close to your body—so the radiation doesn’t penetrate your skin and body.
