Baby Boomers, Alzheimer’s, Dementia and Nutrition:
How to prevent and support Alzheimer’s and memory loss in an aging society
One day you are 30 and the next day you are 60! It happens just like that. For many “Baby Boomers”, we secretly worry about losing our memory. As we search for words or can’t remember the name of the movie we saw last week, our children look on with concern. Are these signs that our brain is aging prematurely? Are they indications that we are headed for brain disaster in our elder years? The media and medical profession give us little hope that there is anything we can do to either prevent or reverse Alzheimer’s.
Baby Boomers, there is GOOD NEWS. No more sleepless nights, worrying that we will end up like a parent that suffered from the devastating affects of Alzheimer’s or dementia. Holistic medicine and the practice of cellular healing have proven there are a myriad of things we can do today TO PREVENT ALZHEIMER’S and/or REVERSE SYMPTOMS
Listed below are 3 top challenges that can threaten brain health and 3 easy to follow solutions. This information can save your life. There is no time to waste!
Could You Have Diabetes of the Brain?
It is well established that the Alzheimer’s disease process starts perhaps 20-25 years before diagnosis. Too much sugar and too many grains, along with toxins create cellular membrane inflammation that leads to imbalances in brain insulin. Too much insulin flooding the brain from improper eating habits can pose a grave threat to our delicate brain tissue. An enzyme called IDE (insulin degrading enzyme) is designed to break down elevated brain insulin which helps to re-establish safe levels. New discoveries have revealed that it also can also break down brain plaque.
But when brain insulin is elevated (which can happen multiple times per day with improper dietary habits) the demand for IDE is too great and there is not enough left to break down newly forming AMYLOID PLAQUE. Amyloid plaque forms very hard and dense plaque in the brain that destroys brain tissue, causing brain atrophy. Essentially, amyloid plaque turns our brain to stone.
How can we balance our brain insulin levels, utilize the protective powers of IDE and keep amyloid plaque from turning our brain into a hard, tangled mess?
CELLULAR HEALING SOLUTION #1:
Healthy Eating: Healthy Brain
It is imperative that we pay attention to our diet, as it dramatically affects our insulin levels. As previously discussed, we must keep our insulin levels stable every day, at all times for our brain cells to function properly. Here are some steps to follow that will keep your body in balance:
Grains: Friend or Foe
All grains, not just the gluten free grains, contain a grain sugar called “amylose.” This can cause our cell membranes to become inflamed. In fact, cell membrane inflammation is public enemy #1, because it will turn a healthy and supple membrane into a brick wall. For those with chronic health conditions, grains can continue to worsen their condition and increase inflammation.
THE GOOD NEWS: There are many “grain-less” crackers and raw healthy snack foods from a company called Beyond Organic that will satisfy any carb cravings. They give you just the right “crunch”, they are absolutely delicious and they are grain-free!
Here is the link to order:Beyond Organic Raw and Fermented Foods
What about sugar?
Too many sugars will also drive cellular inflammation. Most of us are already aware that too many desserts, candy, etc. are not good for the body. In fact, too much sugar on a regular basis can create chronic illness and lend itself to Type-2 Diabetes.
Even too many fruit sugars (bananas, oranges, dates and fruits high on the glycemic index) as well as honey (even raw) and raw organic agave syrup will continue to elevate blood sugar and cause insulin surges, thus resulting in the eventual destruction of brain cells if it goes unchecked.
That means that every time you reach for a cookie, a piece of cake, a plate of pasta or a bagel, a cascading series of events eventually lead to increased cell membrane inflammation and insulin surges. This can initiate the progressive formation of plague and tangles that can destroy your brain cells for good!
THE GOOD NEWS: Again, there are many safe alternatives to sugar. Stevia and xylitol can help to bridge the gap to satisfy our cravings for sugary delights. There are many fantastic cookbooks available that list yummy recipes for ìsafe sweetsî so you can still enjoy desserts, etc. without raising insulin levels and increasing inflammation.

Could You Have Toxins in the Brain?
We are exposed daily to heavy metals, environmental toxins, cleaning and personal care chemicals, BPA, chlorine, mold, sugar/grains and a multitude of others. This exposure is not benign. Our grandparents were never subjected to this kind of toxic soup. How can we protect our body and our brain from this toxic onslaught?
GLUTATHIONE, aptly named as the “great cell defender”, is the most powerful antioxidant in the world; 5,000 times stronger than any other antioxidant. In fact, it is so vital to the cell, that if it drops too low, the cell dies. Glutathione captures free radicals caused by many of these toxins and ushers them out of all of our cells, including our brain tissue. But repeated toxic exposure can cause glutathione depletion. Without adequate glutathione, toxins build up inside the cell, including those in our brain, and our brain cells become a toxic waste site.
Equally critical to brain health is proper METHYLATION: a process that is needed to turn stress hormones “ON” and “OFF”. If methylation is depleted because of toxic overload or stress, the nervous system stops working properly, leaving the patient with continuing anxiety and brain fog. Without proper methylation, our brain cells are left vulnerable and weakened.
Needless to say, without high levels of glutathione and proper methylation, our body and brain will struggle to thrive and survive.
CELLULAR HEALING SOLUTION #2:
It is very important to choose the right supplements to boost glutathione and methylation. Although our cells make glutathione in the mitochondria, many of us are sorely depleted in this vital substance and that is why we must find a high quality glutathione supplement. However, not all supplements are created equal. Glutathione is very difficult to absorb into the cell. There are many glutathione supplements that boast raising the storehouse intracellular (inside the cell) but thus far, only one has proven its ability to do so.
Increase Intracellular Glutathione
It wasn’t until recently that Dr. Shane Morris and Dr. Daniel Pompa formulated a supplement called GCELL (Systemic Formulas) that has physician level ingredients that increase intracellular glutathione. Systemic Formulas GCELL is part of an intracellular detoxification protocol that encourages the cells of the body to “clean house” of toxins, heavy metals and the like.
As methylation is of the utmost importance for brain health, it is important to use a high quality methylation supplement. MORS by Systemic Formulas is the solution I use most often. Methylation support has diminished symptoms in many toxic heavy metal patients, who were previously experiencing extreme anxiety, memory loss and brain fog. Methylation support works so well because our bodies need methyl-groups to process stress hormones, toxins and decrease inflammation.
How can I test my levels?
Blood lab tests and a thorough symptom review can determine our levels of both glutathione and methylation. From there, a qualified cellular healing practitioner can design a cellular detoxification program that will include glutathione and methylation support. These steps will go far in protecting and preventing the challenges associated with Alzheimer’s.
Could You be Eating the Wrong Fats and Missing the Fats that Heal?
The membrane of the cell is where we carry our innate intelligence. Dr. Bruce Lipton, stem cell biologist and best selling author of “The Biology of Belief” says, “…the cell membrane… and the outer layer of a cell is the organís equivalent of a COMPUTER CHIP and the cell;s equivalent of a brain…”
Remember that cell receptors on the outside of the membrane act as the eyes, ears, nose and senses of the cell. But if inflammation is present, the cell receptors are not able to function. Without cell receptors and a healthy, supple cell membrane, the cell dies instantly. Cell membrane inflammation causes major dysfunction inside the cell’s delicate operating system. Beside SUGAR and TOXINS, BAD FATS can drive cell membrane inflammation through the roof. BAD FATS are defined as rancid vegetable oil and renegade fats. Renegade fats are a very long chain that disrupts membrane structure. Bad fats change the structure or geometry of the membrane that is highly sensitive to the size of the lipid (fat) chains.
According to Wikipedia on Alzheimer’s Disease: A study published in Archives of Neurology in February 2003 suggested that the intake of both trans fats and saturated fats promote the development of Alzheimer disease although not confirmed in an animal model. It has been found that trans fats impaired memory and learning in middle-age rats. The rats’ brains of trans-fat eaters had fewer proteins critical to healthy neurological function, inflammation in and around the hippocampus (the part of the brain responsible for learning and memory). These are the exact types of changes normally seen at the onset of Alzheimer’s, but seen after six weeks, even though the rats were still young.

Without regenerating the membrane and removing the causes that drive inflammation, our body can’t fix our hormones and we are at risk for thyroid problems, weight gain, Diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Autism, MS, Parkinson’s disease, dementia and seizures.
CELLULAR HEALING SOLUTION # 3
Fix the membrane: Fix the brain
How do we fix the cell membrane and protect brain cells? Here are 3 solutions:
1. REMOVE THE SOURCE OF IMFLAMMATION by utilizing specific lab tests to reveal the source of toxins. Also we must follow a cellular healing diet. This requires an expert on cellular healing to walk you through the correct steps.
2. AVOID OMEGA DOMINANCE: Many people have been taking too much omega 3 for too long. Omega dominance replaces cardiolipin (a vital fat in the mitochondria) with omega 3’s and causes dysfunction of the mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell). Omega dominance can lead to increased cellular fluidity, which creates a weak cell membrane, making it vulnerable to toxins and free radical damage. It can also increase epigenetic triggers (turns bad genes ON) and can lead to overstimulation in ADD and autistic children. Stop taking too many Omega 3 supplements such as flax or fish oils.
3. FATS THAT HEAL: TAKE VISTA by Systemic Formulas: We need to take fats that heal and lipid therapy can be just what our brain needs to remain vital and health. But the ratio of fats between Omega 6 and Omega 3 is extremely important. Systemic Formula’s VISTA provides healing fats in the proper 4:1 ratio and our brain demands this ratio for continued health. DHA alone does not provide this ratio. In fact, the only ratio that will improve learning, sleep, seizures and brain challenges is a 4:1 ratio. The 4:1 ratio is well known for positively affecting memory and focus and was designed to lend our body the support it needs to heal cellular membranes.
In summary, Baby Boomers are at the precipice right now. We can’t wait to act because we may have already started to develop cognitive dysfunction. Do you ever forget where you left your keys? Are you forgetting names or words from time to time? This is not just a benign sign of aging. Brain cells are being compromised every day and these are definitive signs that we must act right away to protect our aging brain.
Since the development of diabetes of the brain and hard amyloid plague develop over time, we must look to what we are doing TODAY if we want to live healthy productive lives in our elder years. Every time our insulin is too high, we are running the risk of damaging our brain cells. Although we say, “Oh well, it was a holiday and everyone was eating drinking and eating dessert,” our brain cells are crying out for help. When insulin is chronically imbalanced, damage occurs and that damage cannot be reversed.
Yes, indeed, there is a loaded gun pointed at our sweet little Baby Boomer heads. We can turn the gun away if we take the proper steps NOW. For qualified support and protocols contact us today.
